This authentic sealing wax was produced before the year 2000 and is no longer in production, making it a rare treasure for collectors and traditionalists alike. Crafted in the classic breakable style with a cotton wick, it offers a true taste of historic letter writing.
Please note: due to its age, the wick may be less responsive to lighting. We recommend using it with a melting spoon or holding the stick directly over a flame as a wickless option.

These original breakable sealing wax sticks, produced by the Stuart Houghton company in the UK, carry with them a legacy of refined craftsmanship. Dating back to its origins in 1845, under George Tibbins, the company became a staple in the world of fine writing tools and traditional stationery.
Crafted with a traditional formula and a cotton wick, each stick burns cleanly and creates a sharply defined seal that snaps when broken—just as sealing wax was meant to behave. Ideal for documents, invitations, and ceremonial correspondence, these waxes reflect the standards of an earlier age when every detail mattered.
THIS is the stuff right here - Old school style, shiny and bold and brittle enough that the sticks TINKLE like a wind chime when they tap together like ceramic or glass. Gorgeous rich red color, and takes a clean impression, smooth and crisp and hard when cooled to give that snappy break. This is what I want in my sealing wax!
Of course it's discontinued, so I held off on my review until after buying a couple more sticks for myself. Doesn't get stuck in the seal, and renders beautifully and hardens almost instantly, no waiting.
This is maybe my favorite wax of any that are currently available, as the modern ones don't have that same shellac shine. No funky smell either, not too smoky.
It may be difficult for people used to the softer waxes to use this due to a narrower cure time before setting, or the way it may drip balls of flaming wax if you don't melt with a spoon, but if you are the sort who appreciates eutectic solder, you will like this wax.
