One of the most thoughtful ways to express gratitude is to send a handwritten note declaring a heartfelt "thank you".  Take the time to commit words of thanks to paper is a ritual that elevates the act of appreciation and gratifies both the recipient and the sender.  A few sentences are all that is needed.
