Created by Rossi 1931, a family owned and operated paper making company in Florence, Italy - operating since 1931.
These unique italian designs, dating from the fifteenth and sixteenth century, are printed on high quality soft paper. This entire collection is made with the families traditional letterpress. Developed in the 14th century, letterpress printing involves setting type and motifs in reverse on a letterpress plate. The plate is then inked and pressed on to the surface of paper. The pressing process transfers the ink and leaves a deep impression on the paper creating a three dimensional print that has a feel unlike any other type of printing. The nature of the printing demands a high quality, and generally heavier weight, paper that will not tear or thin when pressed. Rossi 1931 uses a perfect type of paper containing fibers that are soft and readily accept an impression as well as ink. As you might expect, letterpress printing is both time consuming and labor-intensive. Prints are made one-at-a-time with each print having its own unique variations of ink coverage and depth of impression.
I love the personal touch in packaging the item I received; I love the quality of the paper and the design (we breed peacocks); I love the size of the paper which I was searching for to refill a gift box w/ stationary that I used up. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and will order again when I've sent personal letters to all my friends and family in time.
I had a great experience I will return for more.
these are the very finest of writing papers and are a pleasure to write on
I ordered some Italian stationery from Letter Seals and it came on time and wrapped in tissue paper. I felt bad keeping it and not giving it as a gift. It is so beautiful - I hope to write some very special letters on it.
In a time of widespread dependence on e-communications, it’s very difficult to find traditionally crafted stationery. Sending a hand-written letter on such beautiful paper tells the recipient how much you care about them. The classic Florentine designs are timeless and reflect the Italian sense of craftsmanship. Sometimes writing email or typing or even hand writing on printer paper is just inappropriate: I look forward to using the paper for letters to the people who mean the most to me. Thank you for keeping this available.
