Melting Spoon

Our melting spoon easily holds enough wax for our large 1.1" round seals.
At 8.5" long, the long wood insulating handle will keep your hand away from the heat source,
and not overheat or soften during extended use.
Using a Melting Spoon
1. Have a heat source available, such as an alcohol lamp, candle or heat gun.
2. Place 3 or more wax beads or broken bits of wax sticks, into the spoon and hold over the heat until the wax melts.
(A candle source of heat may create soot on the bottom of the spoon, this is easily wiped away when you clean off the spoon. An alcohol lamp will not produce soot).
3. Pour the melted wax onto your project and emboss with seal. Waiting a few moments before embossing may create better definition in the wax. Experiment to find the correct waiting period for the conditions in your area.
Notes about our Melting Spoon:
Useful for large or small projects.
It is easy to practice seals on aluminum foil, then remelt the wax in the melting spoon to use again.
Create new colors and marbling effects by melting colors together. We use both the Melting Spoon in conjunction with our melting pot, which allows us to reuse our mistakes, as well as change and mix colors.
To clean the spoon
Warm the spoon if cool to soften/melt wax residue and wrap inside a doubled up paper towel (grabbing the spoon with the paper towel works best).
Spin and rub the spoon inside the towel as you push the towel into the areas you are cleaning.
All wax and soot is easily removed with this method - depending on the amount of residue you are removing you may find you will need to rewarm the spoon or use a paper towel or two.
Be careful of the hot wax on the paper towel!
Please note the small spoon pictured in the example is for illustration of use.
