When melting wax with a flame (such as wickless wax or with a melting spoon), the use of a flame which does not produce carbon soot is ideal so as to prevent contamination & discoloration.
We use our 4oz burner (with adjustable wick) in conjunction with our melting spoon to quickly melt a piece of wax, faux wax or a few wax beads.
Our alcohol burner uses denatured alcohol for fuel, which is a non-consumable form of ethanol used for burners such as camp stoves and fondue pots.
You will easily find denatured alcohol in hardware stores (look in the paint section),
camping equipment stores and some specialty food stores.
* Fill the vessel with the desire amount of denatured alcohol. Replace wick and cap set up by screwing back on.
* Adjust the wick with side dial to bring just enough wick above the collar to allow for lighting.
* The wick is now ready for lighting. Please keep in mind that the flame from alcohol is practically invisible - use caution with an open flame.
* Experiment with the height of the wick to get the desired strength of flame for your needs.
* Extinguish the flame with a snuffer, or by blowing it out.
Replace the cap to prevent the alcohol from evaporating.
This size lamp/burner is a nice size to have resident on a desk top to use on demand
anytime you have occasion to create a seal.
